Moștenitorii

Novel by William Golding

Blurb

Eight Neanderthals encounter another race of beings like themselves, yet strangely different. This new race, Homo sapiens, fascinating in their skills and sophistication, terrifying in their cruelty, sense of guilt, and incipient corruption, spell doom for the more gentle folk whose world they will inherit. Golding, author of Lord of the Flies, won the 1983 Nobel Prize for Literature.

Although I give Mr. Golding full points for being one of the first to tackle this subject, I found this story hard to follow. Neanderthal and modern humans come face to face, but in these interactions, I find it hard to connect emotionally with either. This was a big downfall, as it kept me from enjoying the story and Golding's exalted prose.
