Dracula the Un-dead is a sequel to Bram Stoker's classic novel Dracula. The book was written by Bram Stoker's great grand-nephew Dacre Stoker and Ian Holt. Previously Holt had been a direct-to-DVD horror screenwriter, and Stoker a track and field coach. In the novel's afterword, the authors discuss the many alterations made to the original novel's events, due to the many inconsistencies in the original and the desire for the Stoker family to reclaim their property.

The story is a folllow-up from Dracula (Bram Stoker) and happens some years after the final events of the original epic, when the Count is killed by the final hit from Mina herself. Mina, Jonnathan and the hunters continued their lifes, but the encounter with the dark prince (or count) changed them forever. No, another terror started to kill in the night and they ask themselves who is the new vampire. The authors kind of mixes the views of the original book and the movie from Francis Ford Copolla in order to create this, let's say, timeline. They also include Bran Stoker himself as a character in order to explain some subtle differences between the classical tale and the story being depicted. Some interesting surprises are presented and some imaginative explanations as provided in order to create the necessary context for the events surrounding the characters.
