Prehistoric Rock Art of County Durham, Swaledale and Wensley

por Stan Beckensall

Resumen

The authors are well-known and highly regarded both in general archaeology and for their detailed knowledge of rock art in Northern Britain and this is an ideal collaboration. Their work has been to survey and record all known instances of rock art from the Tyne to the Tees, in Teesdale, Swaledale and Wensleydale, and the results of this research are presented in this gazetteer which is illustrated with both photographs and drawings. It is more a guidebook to the art than a discussion of symbol and meaning and will be most useful to those planning to see the sites. There could be no better guides than Beckensall and Laurie.
