The Lawless Roads
Resumen
The Lawless Roads is a travel account by Graham Greene, based on his 1938 trip to Mexico, to see the effects of the government's campaign of forced anti-Catholic secularisation and how the inhabitants had reacted to the brutal anticlerical purges of President Plutarco Elías Calles.A Catholic and conservative man, Greene travels to Mexico to find the remnants of Catholicism. His journey takes him from the northern border towns, through the cosmopolitan capital, and then into the states of Puebla and Chiapas.
The voyage produced two books, the factual The Lawless Roads, and the novel The Power and the Glory.
