ENDER'S GAME. Hugo and Nebula Award Winning Title.

Science Fiction, Novel by Orson Scott Card

Blurb

Intense is the word for Ender's Game. Aliens have attacked Earth twice and almost destroyed the human species. To make sure humans win the next encounter, the world government has taken to breeding military geniuses -- and then training them in the arts of war... The early training, not surprisingly, takes the form of 'games'... Ender Wiggin is a genius among geniuses; he wins all the games... He is smart enough to know that time is running out. But is he smart enough to save the planet?

I rate this book as a 10; not because of the dialogue or the characters (who piss me off from time to time), or plot points or plot twists, but simply because it's one of the most unique stories I've ever read. I wanted to like it and it lived up to the hype. The story is not told how traditional stories are told. There is an exceedingly large exposition with lots of character development which you then have to have a firm understanding of in order to get the wrap up. The final parts are almost self told and filled in by what you know about the characters and only makes sense because of what we know. This in effect goes to shorten the whole novel by filling in the ending yourself and this approach did not really have any drawbacks and the story still felt full and fleshed out. As far as art styles go this was a 10/10. As far as complex ideas or new thoughts being brought to the table ... not so much // start for the adventure, stay for the art, and don't worry about the lack of narrator insight or commentary onto human relations or the nature of the universe state p

Fesselnd. Ich konnte es nicht weglegen. Ich kann gut verstehen, warum dieses Buch viele Leute inspiriert hat. Beim Vorwort des Autors hat mit gut gefallen, die Geschichte des Buches umrissen zu bekommen.
