This guide re-introduces the ancient art of colour therapy. It describes the healing power of colour and its connections with past, present and future science. Readers learn how colour affects their lives, as well as: assess their personal colour needs using personality tests and colour/shape tests; decorate the home to create a mood for each room; understand how colours affect the state of mind and body; diagnose the healthy colours and discolourations of the aura; and learn how to heal themselves using breathing exercises and colour visualizations. The different rays of the light spectrum are understood to have direct effects at psychological, mental and physical levels. Red is about strength and energy, yellow relates to clear thought and judgement, green is relaxing and brings stability, turquoise enhances immunity and creativity, blue depresses the metabolism and is calming, violet enhances respect and dignity, and magenta is about change and letting go of old patterns. Colour therapists work scientifically-devised colour lamps which assist the body to re-balance its energies and heal itself, treating a range of illness from SAD (seasonal affective disorder) to migraine or stress-related skin complaints, such as eczema and psoriasis. The first three chapters explain the science of colour, and the effects of colour on people. Chapter Four looks at the colour energies of the aura and the chakras, and dowsing colour in the body. Chapters Five and Six describe how colours change with ill-health and how different styles of colour therapy treat ailments. The book also offers practical exercises for self-help.
