An English translation by Joseph Green was published in 1964. The novel was the basis for the 1965 film Un amore, directed by Gianni Vernuccio.

In my opinion, this book has nothing to be read for. Is boring and there's no plot. In the end, I felt a sense of sadness, maybe the same sadness the author described for his protagonist.
