I loved the characters and all their little quirks. Also, the descriptions were very detailed and really made you feel like you were in Australia (where the book is set - not Norway).
However, I had to put the book down around a third of the way through because there were just too many references to 'adult' type themes (though I suppose that is to be expected given the circumstances of the main murder). Possibly good for some but just not to my taste (though I feel his later books may improve).
