Wie auch der erste Teil der Triologie `Zones of Thought' sehr lesenswert. Der Zusammenhang mit dem ersten Teil ist sehr gering: Eigentlich nur eine Person -- was definitiv kein Makel ist. Vinge spielt wieder sehr schön mit Ideen außerirdischer Spezies und geht noch etwas weiter, weil er eine dieser Spezies mit ihrem Leben bis hin zu ihren Moralvorstellungen sehr genau unter die Lupe nimmt, und sie in ein uns sehr fremdartiges Planetensystem steckt. Auch die Psychologie/Gesellschaftskritik kommt wieder nicht zu kurz; diesmal in Form einer verlockenden Form der Sklaverei...
